Have you ever seen something happen and you just knew God was behind it?
When I see God doing something, I want to write that story. Because when God makes Himself known in someone’s life, He often has an important message!
Sharing what God has done
When I tried to take my first horse to a trainer, one thing after another stopped me. And then God provided a different solution. I wrote about it in Sometimes a Woman Needs a Horse (and I plan to re-publish that book soon).
When I lost a son to cancer, God didn’t heal him in answer to my prayers—but He gave me strength and assurance to help me through the loss. And then He drew me into a nearby secluded field where I walked our dog on a pilgrimage of healing. Through the peaceful beauty of nature, I experienced His loving presence. I wrote about that in Beyond the Visible Edge (see book page).
For 20 years, I wrote a column for the Illinois Horse Network newspaper under the heading Sometimes God Uses Horses. I’ll be posting some of those columns on this website, newly edited with an updated perspective.
A Taste of Nature’s Snapshots
Since growing up on an Iowa farm and spending time in a wooded pasture, I’ve always been drawn to nature–with even more interest since my pilgrimage in the nearby secluded field that healed my grieving heart. A few years ago, I met a woman who took gorgeous photos of birds and other “Images of Nature,” and I bought a long lens like hers to take my own photos.
I hope you enjoy my posts in the Nature’s Snapshots category, where I share some of the wonders around me. We can’t see God, but we can see and appreciate His amazing creations. While walking in the Arlington Wetlands field, I saw this bumblebee on a purple bee balm (also called horsemint or bergamot, in the mint family of Monarda, according to Wikipedia).
